Sunwing Vacations Flights from Canada to Cuba
by Mark in CubaI don’t remember anymore how I’ve first heard of Sunwing Vacations and Airlines. I know it soon got on my list of frequently checked travel websites that sell flights and vacations on line. For whatever reason name Sunwing doesn’t ring bells in the eyes and ears of people I know and it was the same with me prior to my trip to Cuba. Which is really odd because Sunwing is a rapidly growing and well established vacation and airline provider. Furthermore, Sunwing is continuously on the list of Canada’s 100 Fastest Growing Companies according to Profit Magazine.
Sunwing is a 100% Canadian owned and operated company with their own aircrafts, which means they operate their own airline, rather than charter flights from Skyservice or similar. Sunwing also specialize in Cuba. They do Cuba all over. You can buy all inclusive packages from Canada to Cuba or just plane tickets – either way, their prices are super good.
I did not know what kind of quality of service I would receive from Sunwing or what kind of customer treatment they offer, however the prices are right and according to all reports i was able to track down, Sunwing seemed like a very solid company that takes their business seriously and have years of success to back it up with. That all made me add them to my list of website I was frequenting as I was looking for the best deal to Cuba. As it turned out, it paid off.
Sunwing are an actual vacation and air transport provider, not a reseller. Most travel agencies are resellers of services provided by actual travel companies. All of the websites listed on my Travel Agencies page are resellers. They have their purpose because they are all in one. They have access to the database of several travel providers and can look up trips ot plane tickets provided by not only Sunwing, but also number of other providers. Sunwing is an actual provider. They are the ones who make deals with hotels and fly the planes.
You are probably thinking the same thing I was thinking – since Sunwing is an actual provider, not a reseller, you may get a better deal buying from them directly, since that way all the moneys goes directly to their pocket as they don’t have to pay no commission to a reseller travel agent. Unfortunately it doesn’t work that way. In theory it does, but not in real life. See, travel agents are an important part of their business strategies. They can’t afford to stab them in the back so people like me, who do their research can bypass travel agencies because they can get the same trip from the provider for cheaper. Providers will simply not do that or else travel agencies would drop them and travel agencies are still their biggest source of client bookings.
Despite all of that, I eventually ended up buying my ticket directly from Sunwing, but it wasn’t because I wanted to save them from paying commission to travel agencies. It was because I’m on a budget so I’m always looking for the best deal and there is more to your travel than just the price of your ticket. Hope it works out. We had an awful time with them. Worst airline in Canada in my opinion. We are going to take them to court. The reviews of them online are awful. Wish I had checked first.
